Every Handmade pair is cut to order in our Canggu workshop. Choose any acetate we have in stock.

Talk to the workshop

Handmade in our Bali workshop, Stereo is a square sunglass with a generous front and a thick, squared-off rim. Its proportions are deliberately bold, with a straight brow line and a flat bridge that give the frame a solid, almost architectural stance on the face.

Inspired by the wayfarer tradition and by the heavier acetate frames of the eighties, Stereo keeps the codes but sharpens the angles. The Black Sun acetate brings pattern and depth to a shape that relies on volume rather than detail.

Designed for both men and women, the square form suits round, oval and heart-shaped faces by adding structure and horizontal balance. Its width makes it particularly comfortable on larger faces.

Crafted from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, the frame offers density, colour depth and lasting comfort. Each pair is shaped, assembled and hand-polished over approximately 15 days.

Lens options include polarized lenses to reduce glare, softly tinted lenses developed in our Bali workshop, blue-light filtering lenses for daily use, or photochromic and prescription lenses prepared by our opticians. All lenses feature UV400 protection, anti-reflective treatment and scratch-resistant coating.

Every Stereo frame is handmade and adjusted in our Canggu boutique, where French design precision meets Balinese craftsmanship.

Questions & Answers for Eyewear Lenses & Customization

Is the square shape suitable for my face?

Square frames add structure and definition, making them ideal for round or oval faces. They sharpen softer contours and create a refined, confident look. For square or angular faces, opt for thinner edges or rounded corners to avoid hardening your expression.

Will square glasses make my face look too large or too small?

Square frames can widen the face if oversized. Choose proportions slightly narrower than your cheekbones for a balanced, modern effect. Smaller models work well on fine features, while medium-width frames fit most face shapes.

Can I customize the frame color, lens tint, or engraving on Maison Mata eyewear?

Yes, every Maison Mata frame can be personalized.
You can choose the color, lens tint, engraving, and even the size of your frame.
In our Bali boutique, we design each detail with you, adjusting proportions, finishes, and tones until the piece truly reflects your style.

Are all sunglasses UV protected, and what does UV400 actually mean?

Not all sunglasses offer full UV protection.
UV400 means the lenses block 100 % of UVA and UVB rays, essential in Bali’s strong tropical light.
All Maison Mata sunglasses meet or exceed UV400 standards.

How often should I get an eye exam to keep my prescription up to date?

We recommend a full eye exam every 12 to 18 months.
If you live in Bali, where light and humidity can strain the eyes, it’s wise to check your vision yearly for optimal comfort.

Do you collaborate on limited editions or capsule collections?

Yes, we love collaborations.
Maison Mata regularly co-creates limited-edition frames and capsule collections with artists, designers, and brands who share our creative values.
