Lenses, care and custom options

What face shapes suit rectangular glasses best?

Rectangular sunglasses draw a horizontal line across the face. Their straight edges contrast with round and oval contours, while the rim’s thickness changes the effect: fine and discreet, or more defined. This selection includes designs for women and men.

Will rectangular glasses make my face look too large or too small?

The same shape can look different depending on its width, lens height and rim thickness. A larger frame creates more presence; a fine rim or translucent acetate gives a lighter outline. Use the product-page dimensions to compare proportions. Our opticians can help with sizing and adjustment.

Do you offer tailor-made or bespoke frames, and how does the custom process work?

Yes. Our Tailor-Made service starts with your ideas, a mood board and measurements.
We develop drawings and prototypes with you, refining the design before production.
Allow 30 days for design and production in Canggu. An initial CNC cut is followed by hand shaping and polishing.

What is the difference between polarized and photochromic lenses?

Polarised lenses reduce glare reflected from surfaces such as water and roads.
Photochromic lenses change tint with the light, becoming darker outdoors and clearer indoors. These are different functions; a photochromic lens is not automatically polarised. Our opticians help you choose according to your daily use.

Do you offer in-store eye exams and lens fitting with an optometrist?

Qualified optometrists provide free eye exams at Maison Mata Canggu, Ubud and Sanur. Our team advises on prescription lenses, which are edged at our Canggu workshop. Eye exams are not available at Seminyak.

What materials do you use for your frames, and why?

Our Signature and Handmade collections use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate.
We choose it for the depth of its colours and the way it can be shaped and polished.
The material brings its own pattern and finish to each design, from translucent shades to layered tortoiseshell.
