Borneo Bliss Dark Forest sunglasses pair a rectangular shape with a thick outline and softened corners. A dark brown tortoiseshell pattern gives the frame depth. Designed for women and men. On oval and square faces, the frame’s defined lines add structure.

Designed by us, made from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate and assembled in Bali.

Clear blue-light filtering lenses are included, or choose polarised UV400 sun lenses at no extra cost. Polarised lenses soften glare from water or roads. Special HOYA tints are available separately. Our opticians can help you choose prescription lenses in store. Our sun lenses offer UV400 protection.

How We Make Our Glasses

Signature collection

This collection is conceived and produced by our team. The idea is to offer contemporary glasses that are easy to wear. These rectangular frames are designed to remain timeless and well balanced on the face. We produce all frames in small quantities to keep a limited selection that is regularly refreshed in our boutiques. Each model is designed for everyday comfort and to work easily with different styles.

Materials and case

Our Signature acetate rectangular models use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, chosen for its layered colours and the way it can be shaped and polished. The hinges are designed for daily use. Each pair comes with a Maison Mata case and a microfibre cloth. We work with small workshops in Bali and elsewhere in Indonesia for cases and packaging. Our sunglasses offer UV400 protection.

Advice and care

Our opticians can advise you on prescription lenses in store. These include UV protection, anti-reflective treatment and a hard coating to help resist small scratches.

Lifetime care for your Maison Mata rectangular glasses is free in store: replacement screws and nose pads, acetate polishing and frame adjustments.

Rinse off dust or sand with clean, lukewarm water, then dry gently with a clean microfibre cloth. Keep your glasses in their case when you are not wearing them.

Maison Mata frames are designed to take prescription or sun lenses. These rectangular frames can be fitted with different lens types according to your prescription and needs: single-vision, progressive, polarised, photochromic or blue-light filtering lenses. Our opticians can guide you towards lenses suited to your vision and everyday use. You can also have a free eye exam with our optometrists in Canggu, Ubud or Sanur. This eye exam allows us to establish your prescription before making your lenses.

01Which face shapes suit rectangular glasses?

Rectangular sunglasses draw a horizontal line across the face. Their straight edges add definition to round and oval contours. On square or angular faces, rounded corners or finer rims give a softer version of the same shape. Explore designs for women and men, from discreet outlines to more pronounced acetate frames.
02Will rectangular glasses make my face look too large or too small?

The same shape can look different depending on its width, lens height and rim thickness. A larger frame creates more presence; a fine rim or translucent acetate gives a lighter outline. Use the product-page dimensions to compare proportions. Our opticians can help with sizing and adjustment.
03Do you offer tailor-made or bespoke frames, and how does the custom process work?

Yes. Our Tailor-Made service begins with your ideas, a mood board and your measurements.
We develop drawings and prototypes with you, then refine the model before production.
Allow 30 days for design and production in Canggu. The frame is shaped and polished by hand after an initial CNC cut.
04What is the difference between polarised and photochromic lenses?

Polarised lenses reduce glare reflected from surfaces such as water and roads.
Photochromic lenses change tint with the light, becoming darker outdoors and clearer indoors. These are different functions; a photochromic lens is not automatically polarised. Our opticians help you choose according to your daily use.
05Do you offer in-store eye exams and lens fitting with an optometrist?

Qualified optometrists provide free eye exams at Maison Mata Canggu, Ubud and Sanur. Our team advises on prescription lenses, which are edged at our Canggu workshop. Eye exams are not available at Seminyak.
06What materials do you use for your frames, and why?

The acetate models in our Signature and Handmade collections use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate.
We choose it for its depth of colour and the way it can be shaped and polished.
The material brings its patterns and finish to each design, from translucent shades to layered tortoiseshell.
