Handmade to order in our Bali workshop (≈15 days), Gilmet Joy is a timeless square frame that mixes simplicity and character. Inspired by the refined balance of Oliver Peoples-style design, it can be worn fitted or slightly oversized, giving it a flexible, modern edge. Made for men and women, it suits all face shapes, especially oval and square, offering structure without heaviness. Each frame is hand-shaped from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, known for its strength, color depth, and lasting comfort, then polished by hand for a smooth and natural shine.

You can choose your lenses, polarized to reduce glare, softly tinted lenses developed in our Bali workshop, blue-light filters for daily screen use, or photochromic and prescription lenses made by our opticians. All come with UV400 protection, anti-reflective, and scratch-resistant coatings.

Every Gilmet Joy frame is crafted and polished by hand in our Canggu boutique, where you can watch artisans shape each piece with precision and care.

  • Made to Order & Customization

Each Square Maison Mata frame begins as a solid sheet of Italian acetate, then slowly takes shape in our Bali workshop. Around two weeks of patient work are needed, from the first cut to the final polish. You can choose the tint, engraving, or size to match your style. Every detail is adjusted by hand with care and precision in Canggu.

  • Materials & Packaging

Our Square frames are made from Mazzucchelli acetate, strong, balanced, and built to last. A thin stainless-steel core keeps them flexible and comfortable. The CR39 or polarized lenses ensure full protection against glare and UV. Each pair comes with a leather case, a microfiber cloth, a care solution, and a small screwdriver.

  • Services and Care

Maison Mata eyewear is designed to last and age gracefully. If your Square frames ever need an adjustment, polish, or repair, our Bali boutiques will take care of it, free of charge. Clean your lenses with the microfiber cloth, store them in their case, and keep them away from heat, acetate keeps its shape best in the shade.

Questions & Answers for Eyewear Lenses & Customization

Is the square shape suitable for my face?

Square frames add structure and definition, making them ideal for round or oval faces. They sharpen softer contours and create a refined, confident look. For square or angular faces, opt for thinner edges or rounded corners to avoid hardening your expression.

Will square glasses make my face look too large or too small?

Square frames can widen the face if oversized. Choose proportions slightly narrower than your cheekbones for a balanced, modern effect. Smaller models work well on fine features, while medium-width frames fit most face shapes.

Can I customize the frame color, lens tint, or engraving on Maison Mata eyewear?

Yes, every Maison Mata frame can be personalized.
You can choose the color, lens tint, engraving, and even the size of your frame.
In our Bali boutique, we design each detail with you, adjusting proportions, finishes, and tones until the piece truly reflects your style.

Are all sunglasses UV protected, and what does UV400 actually mean?

Not all sunglasses offer full UV protection.
UV400 means the lenses block 100 % of UVA and UVB rays, essential in Bali’s strong tropical light.
All Maison Mata sunglasses meet or exceed UV400 standards.

How often should I get an eye exam to keep my prescription up to date?

We recommend a full eye exam every 12 to 18 months.
If you live in Bali, where light and humidity can strain the eyes, it’s wise to check your vision yearly for optimal comfort.

Do you collaborate on limited editions or capsule collections?

Yes, we love collaborations.
Maison Mata regularly co-creates limited-edition frames and capsule collections with artists, designers, and brands who share our creative values.
