An exclusive collaboration between Maison Mata and Cove. Island Essentials in Bali.
This collection is conceived and produced by our team. The idea is to offer contemporary glasses that are easy to wear. These oval frames are designed to remain timeless and well balanced on the face. We produce all frames in small quantities to keep a limited selection that is regularly refreshed in our boutiques. Each model is designed for everyday comfort and to work easily with different styles.
Our Signature acetate oval models use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, chosen for its layered colours and the way it can be shaped and polished. The hinges are designed for daily use. Each pair comes with a Maison Mata case and a microfibre cloth. We work with small workshops in Bali and elsewhere in Indonesia for cases and packaging. Our sunglasses offer UV400 protection.
Our opticians can advise you on prescription lenses in store. These include UV protection, anti-reflective treatment and a hard coating to help resist small scratches.
Lifetime care for your Maison Mata oval glasses is free in store: replacement screws and nose pads, acetate polishing and frame adjustments.
Rinse off dust or sand with clean, lukewarm water, then dry gently with a clean microfibre cloth. Keep your glasses in their case when you are not wearing them.
Maison Mata frames are designed to take prescription or sun lenses. These oval frames can be fitted with different lens types according to your prescription and needs: single-vision, progressive, polarised, photochromic or blue-light filtering lenses. Our opticians can guide you towards lenses suited to your vision and everyday use. You can also have a free eye exam with our optometrists in Canggu, Ubud or Sanur. This eye exam allows us to establish your prescription before making your lenses.
Oval sunglasses stretch a rounded shape horizontally. Their curves contrast with square, rectangular or angular features, while a narrow profile gives the frame a more discreet line. Thicker rims change the mood without changing the shape. Explore oval designs for women and men.
The same shape can look different depending on its width, lens height and rim thickness. A larger frame creates more presence; a fine rim or translucent acetate gives a lighter outline. Use the product-page dimensions to compare proportions. Our opticians can help with sizing and adjustment.
We design our Signature frames, have them produced in our manufacturing facility and then assemble them in Bali. The acetate models use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate. Handmade follows a different process in our Canggu workshop, with around 15 days of production.
Blue-light filters reduce part of the blue light reaching your eyes. They have not been shown to reliably relieve screen-related eye strain or headaches.
Our opticians can explain the lens options for your prescription and how you use your screens.
Use the microfibre cloth supplied with your Maison Mata glasses and our lens cleaning solution.
Rinse off sand or salt with clean water before wiping. Avoid paper tissues and clothing, which can scratch the lenses.
We use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, made from modified plant cellulose and plasticisers. It can be shaped, adjusted and polished, which helps us maintain the frame over time.
We make Handmade frames in Canggu and work with workshops in Bali and Java for accessories and packaging. Our leather cases are made in Kerobokan, pandan cases in Yogyakarta and fabric pouches in Bali. Each frame includes a case and microfibre cloth.
Do your glasses slip or sit unevenly? We adjust frames free of charge, including those bought elsewhere, so they sit more comfortably on your nose and behind your ears.
Polishing can restore the shine to an acetate frame and soften small surface marks. This service is free for the lifetime of your Maison Mata glasses. It is for the frame, not the lenses.
Screw and nose pad replacement is free for the lifetime of your Maison Mata glasses. We also assess possible repairs to frames bought elsewhere. Other repairs and parts are quoted before any work begins.
