Hypoallergenic durable acetate pieces used to craft Maison Mata handmade eyeglasses.

Italian acetate

Cellulose acetate is a plastic made from chemically modified plant cellulose, with plasticisers added to give it flexibility. We use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate for its depth of colour and the way it can be shaped, adjusted and polished. Its plant origin does not mean every ingredient is plant-based.

Stainless steel

We use stainless steel for components such as hinges and some temples, depending on the model. The hinges connect the temples to the front and allow the glasses to fold.

Leather

Our leather cases protect your glasses when you carry or store them. The leather develops a patina with use: its colour and surface gradually change over time.

Multi-color tinted lenses engineered in-house by Maison Mata, wide spectrum of hues for creative eyewear design.

Our Lenses

Our website sunglasses offer UV400 protection. Our polarised sun lenses have no anti-reflective coating. Our special-tint HOYA sun lenses provide UV400 protection, an anti-reflective coating and a hard coat for improved resistance to micro-scratches. They are not polarised. Prescription lenses sold in our stores have UV protection, an anti-reflective coating and a hard coat for improved resistance to micro-scratches. We work with ZEISS, HOYA, Essilor and other recognised laboratories. Additional properties depend on the lens selected.
