Tequila Sunrise combines a low, elongated hexagonal shape with a thick outline and crisp angles. Shown here in Light Tortoise, it keeps a sculpted volume and a surface that feels smooth to the touch. For women and men, with lines that highlight oval and square faces.

We make this Handmade frame in our Canggu workshop in Bali from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate. We shape and polish the contours by hand to reveal the depth of colour and create a smooth surface. Allow around 15 days for production, excluding shipping. Frame size, acetate colour and engraving can be personalised at no extra cost. Each pair is adjusted by hand in our Canggu boutique.

You can also personalise it in our Virtual Atelier: try it on, adjust the size, change the acetate and send us your design.

Your choice of included lenses: polarised sun lenses, clear blue-light filtering lenses or special HOYA tints. The sun lenses offer UV400 protection. Photochromic lenses are available as an option; for prescription lenses, our opticians can advise you in store.

Making and personalisation

In our Canggu workshop, each frame begins with a sheet of Italian Mazzucchelli acetate. We refine the angular outline of these geometric glasses, work the contours of the frame by hand and polish it to a smooth finish.

Made-to-order production takes around 15 days, plus shipping. Choose the frame size, acetate colour and engraving at no extra cost; lens options are selected separately.

How We Make Our Glasses

Materials and case

For these geometric frames, we choose Italian Mazzucchelli acetate for its depth of colour and the way it can be shaped and polished. A thin stainless steel core reinforces the temples.

Our polarised sun lenses are made from CR-39: they offer UV400 protection and reduce glare from reflections.

Your frame comes with a case and a microfibre cloth, even if you choose it without lenses.

Lifetime care

Lifetime care for your Maison Mata geometric glasses is free in store: replacement screws and nose pads, acetate polishing and frame adjustments.

Rinse off dust and sand with clean, lukewarm water, then dry gently with a clean microfibre cloth. Avoid solvents and household cleaning products. For adjustments, bring your frame to us rather than bending it yourself.

Between uses, keep your glasses in their case, away from strong heat.

Our Handmade geometric glasses can take prescription or sun lenses. Depending on your prescription and the frame you choose, options include single-vision, progressive, polarised, photochromic or blue-light filtering lenses.

Our opticians help you choose lenses suited to your vision and everyday life. In Canggu, Ubud and Sanur, you can have a free eye exam with our optometrists. This eye exam allows us to establish your prescription before making your lenses.

Lenses, care and personalisation

01Which face shapes suit geometric glasses?

Geometric frames use angled sides to draw a defined outline around the eyes. The angles create contrast with round and oval faces, without relying on a square or rectangular shape. A fine rim makes the geometry subtle; thicker acetate brings it forward. Explore designs for women and men.
02Will geometric glasses make my face look too large or too small?

The same shape can look different depending on its width, lens height and rim thickness. A larger frame creates more presence; a fine rim or translucent acetate gives a lighter outline. Use the product-page dimensions to compare proportions. Our opticians can help with sizing and adjustment.
03Can you adjust the fit at the bridge and temples?

Yes. Adjustments are available at every Maison Mata boutique in Bali.
Our team checks the temples and how the frame rests on your nose, then adjusts it for a more comfortable fit.
04Are photochromic lenses suited to sunny climates, and how quickly do they darken or clear?

Photochromic lenses darken outdoors and become clearer indoors, so they can be useful when you move between different light conditions.
How quickly they change, and how dark they become, depends on the lens, the temperature and the light. Our opticians can explain the options available.
05Will salt, sweat, or sunscreen damage my lenses or coatings?

Salt, sweat and sunscreen can leave residue on the lenses and around the frame. Rinse away sand or salt with clean water before wiping, so you do not rub particles across the surface. Use our lens cleaning solution and the supplied microfibre cloth for remaining marks. Avoid paper tissues and clothing, which can scratch the lenses.
06What is the difference between Handmade and Signature?

We shape and polish Handmade frames by hand in our Canggu workshop, after an initial CNC cut. We also design our Signature frames, which are assembled in Bali. The acetate models in both collections use Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, with different production methods.
