Mudslide sunglasses revisit the aviator shape with rounded lenses and a straight double bridge. Shown here in Transparent Blue, with blue gradient lenses. Designed for women and men. On heart-shaped and oval faces, the frame’s defined lines add structure.
We make this Handmade frame from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate in our Canggu workshop in Bali, shaping and polishing it by hand. Allow around 15 days for production, plus shipping. Choose your frame size, acetate colour and engraving at no extra cost. You can also make it yours in our Virtual Atelier: try it on, adjust the size, change the acetate and send us your design.
Choose polarised lenses to soften glare, photochromic lenses that change tint with the light, a blue-light filter or special HOYA tints. For prescription lenses, our opticians can advise you in store. Our sun lenses offer UV400 protection.

Handmade Quality & Expertise

Made to Order & Customization
Each frame begins with a flat sheet of Italian Mazzucchelli acetate in our Canggu workshop. After the initial CNC cut, we refine the aviator outline and work the edges by hand, then polish the frame to a smooth finish.
Allow around 15 days for production, plus shipping. Choose your frame size, acetate colour and engraving at no extra cost; lens options are selected separately.

Materials & Packaging
We choose Italian Mazzucchelli acetate for its depth of colour and the way it can be shaped and polished. A fine steel core reinforces the temples. Our polarised sun lenses are made from CR-39 and provide UV400 protection while reducing reflected glare. Each product page shows the other lens options available.
Your frame comes with a case and a microfibre cloth, including when you choose it without lenses.

Lenses, care and custom options
What face shapes suit aviator glasses best?
Aviator sunglasses combine a broad upper line with lenses that curve downwards. Our selection for women and men explores this silhouette through different proportions and frame thicknesses. Those curved lower edges can contrast with a square jaw or follow the softer lines of oval and heart-shaped faces. Our sunglasses provide UV400 protection. Ask our opticians about the prescription lens options available for your chosen model.
Will aviator glasses make my face look too large or too small?
The same shape can look different depending on its width, lens height and rim thickness. A larger frame creates more presence; a fine rim or translucent acetate gives a lighter outline. Use the product-page dimensions to compare proportions. Our opticians can help with sizing and adjustment.
What is the difference between Handmade, Tailor-Made and frame personalisation?
Handmade is made in our Canggu workshop: an initial CNC cut is followed by hand shaping, assembly and polishing. You can personalise an existing design in size, acetate colour and engraving at no extra cost. Production takes around 15 days.
Tailor-Made starts with a new drawing for your ideas and measurements. Allow 30 days for design and production. Both timings exclude shipping; lens options are selected separately.
Are polarised sunglasses useful for driving or outdoor activities in Bali?
Polarised lenses reduce glare reflected from surfaces such as water and roads.
They can make bright outdoor conditions more comfortable, including daytime driving.
Our polarised sunglasses have UV400 protection and no anti-reflective coating. Polarisation is an option for reducing glare, not a requirement for UV protection.
What should I do if my glasses get damaged or scratched?
Bring the glasses to a Maison Mata boutique so we can assess the damage.
An acetate frame may be polished to reduce light surface marks; repairs and replacement parts depend on its condition. When replacing a part, we try to match the original colour and finish.
We do not polish scratched lenses.
Our opticians can explain replacement options and any cost before proceeding.
Lifetime care for your Maison Mata glasses is free in store: screw and nose-pad replacement, acetate polishing and frame adjustments.
Where are Maison Mata frames made, and can I see the crafting process in Bali?
We make our Handmade frames in our Canggu workshop in Bali. You are welcome to watch through the workshop’s glass walls as an initial CNC cut is followed by hand shaping, assembly and polishing. You can see the work that turns a sheet of acetate into a frame.
Our Signature and Classic frames follow a different production process in our manufacturing facility, with final assembly in Bali.
