Made to Order & Customization
Every Maison Mata Aviator glasses starts as a plain sheet of Italian acetate, flat and cold, before it begins to breathe in our Bali workshop. Each one is cut, shaped, and polished over roughly two weeks, until it feels alive in the hands. You choose the tint, engraving, or size that fits you best. The whole process happens by hand, quietly, in Canggu.

Materials & Packaging
Our Aviator frames are sculpted from Mazzucchelli acetate, strong, light, and balanced. Inside, a fine steel core gives flexibility, and CR39 or polarized lenses block harmful glare and UV. Each pair comes with a soft leather case, a microfiber cloth, a drop of care solution, and a tiny screwdriver, all packed with the same attention as the frame itself.

Questions & Answers for Eyewear Lenses & Customization
What face shapes suit aviator glasses best?
Aviator glasses suit most face shapes thanks to their balanced teardrop design. They flatter oval and heart-shaped faces, enhancing natural symmetry, and bring contrast to square or rectangular faces by softening angles. For round faces, choose a slightly more angular aviator to elongate the look. Their versatility makes them a timeless, universally flattering option.
Will aviator glasses make my face look too large or too small?
Aviators typically balance the face. If oversized, they can dominate small faces; if too narrow, they may appear lost on wider ones. For a perfect fit, the frame’s bottom edge should sit just above your cheeks. Proper sizing maintains the classic harmony aviators are known for.
What’s the difference between ‘handmade’, ‘tailor-made’, and ‘custom’ frames?
Many brands use the word handmade even when only a small part of the product often the packaging, is done by hand, while the frames themselves are made in factories.
At Maison Mata, handmade means from start to finish, every stage is crafted by our artisans in Bali.
Tailor-made refers to a frame drawn and built exclusively for your measurements and preferences.
Custom means we start from one of our own designs, but you can change everything, color, size, lenses, engraving, to make it yours.
Are polarized sunglasses necessary for driving or outdoor activities in bali?
Yes, Bali’s bright sunlight and reflective surfaces make polarized lenses a real advantage.
They improve comfort while driving, walking by the sea, or spending long afternoons outdoors.
If you live or travel in Bali, polarized lenses quickly become your everyday essential.
What should I do if my glasses get damaged or scratched?
Don’t worry, bring them to any Maison Mata store in Bali.
Depending on the damage, we can polish minor scratches, realign frames, or replace parts if needed.
Each frame is unique, so we always do our best to match the original color and finish.
Scratched lenses can’t be saved, they need to be replaced.
