Choosing the Right Lenses
Choosing lenses mainly depends on your prescription and daily use. At Maison Mata, we help you find the simplest and most comfortable solution for your vision.
Single-vision lenses
Ready in 30 minutes to 3 days.
Single-vision lenses correct one viewing distance, either far or near. They are commonly used for myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, and remain the most common type of lenses.
Progressive lenses
Ready in 7 to 10 days.
Progressive lenses allow clear vision at all distances with one pair of glasses. They are designed for presbyopia and provide a smooth transition between distance, intermediate, and near vision.
Office lenses
Ready in 7 to 10 days.
Office lenses are designed for intermediate and near vision, especially for computer work. They provide a wider and more comfortable field of view at screen distance than traditional progressive lenses, helping reduce visual fatigue.

Understanding Vision Corrections
Prescription lenses correct different types of vision problems:

Blue-Light Filtering and Anti-Reflective Coating
Blue-light filtering lenses are designed for people who spend long hours in front of screens. They help reduce visual fatigue during computer use by improving comfort in intermediate and near vision. They do not change the prescription but act as a comfort filter for everyday screen use.
Anti-reflective coating reduces reflections on the lens surface and improves visual clarity. It is now considered a standard treatment for prescription glasses.
Photochromic Lenses
Photochromic lenses remain clear indoors and automatically darken in sunlight when exposed to UV. They allow one pair of glasses to be used both indoors and outdoors.
They are especially practical in bright environments like Bali, where people frequently move between indoor and outdoor spaces. Many of our clients choose this option and are very satisfied with it for everyday use.
Photochromic lenses can be combined with prescription lenses and other treatments for additional visual comfort.
Polarized Lenses
Polarized lenses reduce glare caused by reflected light from water, roads, or sand. They improve contrast and visual comfort outdoors, especially for driving, beach environments, and water activities.
At Maison Mata, polarized lenses are included by default in most of our Classic sunglasses. They can also be selected for Handmade frames, with or without prescription lenses.
In sunny environments like Bali, polarized lenses are often recommended for better visual comfort.
Lens Thickness
Lens thickness mainly depends on the prescription. Stronger prescriptions usually result in thicker lenses.
Thinner lenses help keep glasses lighter and more aesthetic, and frame shape also influences the final look.
