Every Handmade pair is cut to order in our Canggu workshop. Choose any acetate we have in stock.

Talk to the workshop

Handcrafted in our Bali workshop over approximately 15 days, Saoirse explores a fine oval silhouette built on continuous curves and a low, discreet bridge. Nothing on the frame is angular. The line runs uninterrupted from one temple to the other, giving the model a calm and quietly refined presence.

The Marble acetate is what carries the design. Its veined, layered texture shifts with the light and brings movement to a shape that stays deliberately simple. Inspired by seventies Italian eyewear and its taste for understatement, Saoirse aims for elegance rather than statement.

Designed for women and easily worn by men who favour slim proportions, the oval form softens square, rectangular and diamond-shaped faces by restoring balance to strong features. It sits close to the face without dominating it.

Crafted from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, the frame offers rich layered tones, subtle shine and lasting comfort. Each pair is shaped, assembled and hand-polished to achieve a smooth finish and a precise fit.

Lens options include polarized lenses to reduce glare, softly tinted lenses developed in our Bali workshop, blue-light filtering lenses for daily use, or photochromic and prescription lenses prepared by our opticians. All lenses feature UV400 protection, anti-reflective treatment and scratch-resistant coating.

Every Saoirse frame is handmade and adjusted in our Canggu boutique, where French design precision meets Balinese craftsmanship.

    Services and Care

Maison Mata eyewear is made to last and age gracefully. If your Oval frames need an adjustment, polish, or repair, our Bali boutiques will handle it free of charge. Clean your lenses with the microfiber cloth, store them in their case, and avoid direct heat. Over time, the acetate develops a soft patina that enhances its character.

Questions & Answers for Eyewear Lenses & Customization

Is the oval shape suitable for my face?

Oval frames are among the most versatile designs. They balance angular features and soften sharp lines, making them ideal for square, rectangular, and heart-shaped faces. On round faces, slim ovals elongate the look elegantly.

Will oval glasses make my face look too large or too small?

Oval frames gently elongate the face, bringing balance. Too large, they can overwhelm delicate features; too small, they lose proportion. Keep frame width aligned with your temples for a natural, refined effect.

How long does it take to craft a handmade frame from start to finish?

Each Maison Mata frame takes around 15 days to complete, from design to final polish.
All stages, cutting, shaping, assembling, are done by hand in our Bali workshop.

Do blue-light filter lenses really help with screens and eye strain?

Yes, they block the most aggressive part of the light emitted by screens, reducing fatigue and headaches.
Many Maison Mata clients in Bali use them daily for work on laptops or phones.

How should I clean my lenses without scratching them?

Use the microfiber cloth provided with your Maison Mata glasses and our lens cleaning solution.
Avoid paper tissues or fabrics, especially in Bali, where sand and salt can cause micro-scratches.

How sustainable are Maison Mata materials and packaging?

Maison Mata uses both standard acetate (not plastic) and Mazzucchelli bio-acetate, known for its natural origin and durability.
We strive to produce locally for our Bali boutiques and collaborate with artisans and small manufacturers from Bali and Java to support the local economy and reduce international transport.
