Handmade in our Bali workshop, Dawn is an oversized oval sunglass with a rounded, enveloping front and a deep vertical proportion. The lenses are large and softly domed, the rim is thick and continuous, and the frame wraps gently towards the temples for a full, generous silhouette.

Inspired by the oversized eyewear of the late sixties and by the horn frames of the same period, Dawn plays on volume and softness. This Fantasy acetate, with its striated grain, gives the model its natural depth and keeps a large frame from feeling heavy.

Designed for women and worn just as well by men who like a wide frame, the oversized oval suits square, rectangular and long faces by softening angles and adding width. It is a statement frame that stays comfortable for everyday wear.

Crafted from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, the frame offers rich layered tones, durability and lasting comfort. Each pair is shaped, assembled and hand-polished over approximately 15 days.

Lens options include polarized lenses to reduce glare, softly tinted lenses developed in our Bali workshop, blue-light filtering lenses for daily use, or photochromic and prescription lenses prepared by our opticians. All lenses feature UV400 protection, anti-reflective treatment and scratch-resistant coating.

Every Dawn frame is handmade and adjusted in our Canggu boutique, where French design precision meets Balinese craftsmanship.

    Made to Order & Customization

    Each Oversized Maison Mata frame starts as a flat sheet of Italian acetate before being hand-sculpted in our Bali workshop. Its generous shape demands precision and balance, taking about two weeks from the first outline to the final polish. You can choose the tint, engraving, or size to suit your taste. Every piece is finished by hand in Canggu.

    Materials & Packaging

    Our Oversized frames are crafted from Mazzucchelli acetate, solid yet light, giving them volume without heaviness. A fine stainless-steel core ensures flexibility, while CR39 or polarized lenses protect from glare and UV. Each pair comes with a leather case, microfiber cloth, care solution, and small screwdriver, all prepared by hand in Bali.

    Maison Mata eyewear is made to last and age beautifully. If your Oversized frames need an adjustment, polish, or repair, our Bali boutiques will handle it free of charge. Clean your lenses with the microfiber cloth, store them in their case, and avoid heat. Over time, the acetate develops a soft patina that enhances its bold character.

Questions & Answers for Eyewear Lenses & Customization

Is the oversized shape suitable for my face?

Oversized glasses flatter oval, heart-shaped, and angular faces, creating a bold, fashion-forward look. They can also add balance to longer faces by shortening proportions visually.

Will oversized glasses make my face look too large or too small?

Oversized frames can overwhelm small faces but look stunning on medium to large ones. Keep the lower edge near your cheekbones to maintain proportion. For petite faces, thinner rims or transparent acetate lighten the effect.

Are thicker, angular frames heavier, and will they feel comfortable all day?

Not necessarily. Our thicker acetate frames are lightened inside for better balance and comfort.
The most important factor is how the frame rests on your nose, the more surface contact it has, the better the weight distribution and the more comfortable it feels throughout the day.
Even in Bali’s warm climate, the fit remains light and pleasant to wear.

Are blue-light lenses safe for daily wear, and will they change color tint?

Absolutely, they are perfectly safe and maintain a neutral tone.
Maison Mata blue-light lenses can be combined with prescriptions or light tints for everyday use in Bali’s bright environments.

How long does it take to get prescription lenses made and fitted?

Most prescriptions are ready within 1 hour to 5 days in Bali.
All lenses are cut and mounted in our workshop to ensure precise alignment and clarity.

What happens if my glasses get scratched or damaged, can you repair or replace parts?

Yes, most repairs are possible.
Our team in Bali can polish small scratches, replace temples or lenses, and reassemble damaged parts when possible.
