At the Monkey Forest or Uluwatu Temple, monkeys are notorious for grabbing anything within reach: phones, hats… and especially sunglasses.
Once taken, you’ll often need to call a local guard to negotiate their return.

On the beaches of Canggu, Uluwatu, or Seminyak, sunglasses disappear fast. A single strong wave can wash them out to sea within seconds.
But even without going into the water, many tourists lose them simply by leaving them on a towel. Sand quickly buries them, and by the end of the day, they can be impossible to find or already broken.
Curious Dogs
Bali’s many street dogs are playful and curious. If you leave your sunglasses within reach, they might grab them like a toy or chew them. Even the strongest frames won’t last long in their mouths.
