Design & Crafting

We make our eyewear chains in our Seminyak workshop-boutique. Leather cases are made by local artisans in Kerobokan, woven pandan cases in Yogyakarta, and fabric pouches are sewn in Bali. Each accessory has its own materials and way of being made.

Question about accessories

Why use a glasses chain?

A glasses chain keeps your pair close when you take it off, instead of leaving it on a table or in a pocket. It is useful if you switch between wearing and removing your glasses during the day. Check that the ends fit your temples and remain securely attached.

Are glasses chains compatible with all frames?

Compatibility depends on the chain’s ends and the size and shape of your temples. Check the product details or send us a photo of your frame so we can help. Do not assume that every chain attaches to every frame.

Why use a glasses case?

A case helps protect your glasses from dust, rubbing and everyday knocks while stored. Choose one that closes without pressing on the frame or lenses. It is useful protection in a bag, but does not make the glasses crushproof or safe from heat.

What is a Mata Box and what is it used for?

Mata Box covers your lenses while leaving the arms free. It attaches directly to a bag, belt or jeans and fits all Maison Mata frames.

Are Maison Mata accessories produced locally?

Production varies by accessory. Our pandan cases are woven in Java, while other pieces use different materials and making methods. Check the individual product page for the available origin and production details; our accessories are not all made in the eyewear workshop in Canggu.

How do you maintain a glasses chain or accessory?

Wipe accessories gently with a soft cloth and check the chain connectors regularly. Care depends on the material: avoid prolonged water exposure, strong heat and household cleaners. For a particular chain or case, follow its product-specific care advice.
